Hall Facilities

The Swan (Hall Bar)

The hall bar "The Swan" forms one of the largest aspects of Bridges Hall social life. Drinks are available at affordable prices and facilities such as a pool table, football table and quiz machine are available. Opening times are as follows:

 

7:30pm - 11:00pm (Monday - Saturday)
7:30pm - 10:30pm (Sunday)

 

The Junior Common Room

The Junior Common Room provides JCR members with Sky TV on a large flat-screen TV as well as general seating ares for socialising. A pool table and darts board are also available for 24-hour use.

 

Snooker Room

Bridges Hall has a full-sized snooker table for use by all JCR members, free of charge. The facility is located through  the Junior Common Room.

 

Reading Room

The JCR subscribes to a number of newspapers available for reading by our members. Our subscriptions include

  • The Sun,

  • The Guardian,

  • The Times,

  • The Telegraph,

  • The Independant

  • Times Educational Supplement on Fridays,

  • The Reading Chronicle on Thursdays

 

Table Tennis Room

Two tables are available for play. The room is open between 8:00am - 10:00pm or 9:00am - 7:00pm during exam season (quiet period). All equipment is provided.

 

Squash Court

Bridges also has a squash court, located at the front of the hall, behind the car park. Balls and raquets are also provided. There is a £1 charge for 45 minutes of lighting.

 

Tennis Court

A tennis court can be found at the back of the hall, across the grass fields.

Washing Room

A Washing room is available, equipt with both washing machines and tumble dryers. Charges for washing machines are £1.40 and tumble dryers cost £1 to use. Opening times are as follows:

 

7:00am - 11:00pm (Daily)

 

Ironing Room

Steam Irons and Ironing Boards are provided completely free-of-charge.

 

Computer Room

The computer room has 10 Windows XP machines available for use, all of which are connected to the University network. Please note that network connections (including internet) are also available in bedrooms. Connectivity is provided at no extra cost.

 

Pay Phones

Available in case you do not have a mobile phone. Lists of taxis are also available next to the payphones.

 

Library

The library is a dedicated quiet study space in the hall and also has a small collection of books for convenience.
